ngaru
- there are two words recorded for egg.- probably this word refers to the liquid contents of the egg - as suggested by Egginton/Tindales translation egg yolk.- this idea is supported also by the use of ngaru in the old Nharangga word ngamiru (=ngammi-ngaru) breastmilk, which also emphasises the liquid contents of the egg (though in this case apparently the white, not the yolk).
